The pursuit to become a highly efficient field hockey umpire requires not only dedication, perseverance, and training it requires ongoing education. The types of education required include the attainment and upskilling of umpiring qualifications according to the requirements of your country’s regulative body, practical learning acquired from appraisal/feedback from umpiring mentors, and the acquisition of and sharing of umpiring information and resources. The latter can be acquired through joining and participating in umpiring forums and engaging with hockey umpiring relevant websites. | FIH Video Library | This site has a lot of videos of various match situations where you can see the penalty and the umpire’s decision, read the applicable rule as well as a rationale for the decision. Since the launch of the FIH Rules of Hockey Video Library in November 2010 there have been over 100.000 views. With the latest additions, the Library now contains over 150 clips. An excellent resource.
