PRODUCT REVIEW: Hockey duffle backpacks make a big entry into 2018

The luggage term duffle bag has been around for decades and it is now making its way into the hockey arena as a practical alternative to the traditional combo hockey bags that are slung over the shoulder or wheeled along or the stick holder backpack.

Traditional hockey combo stick bags and stick holder backpack

The versatile design of the duffle bag can be worn as backpack or carried like a duffle. The two new players in 2018 are the Mazon Tour Pro Duffle Backpack and the Voodoo Duffle Backpack

You will find that both these deigns there are spacious main compartments to put shin guards, hockey shoes, some accessories and some hockey clothing (depends on how much you generally carry). The duffle bag is ideal for the hockey player not wanting to lug around a large stick bag. It is definitely suitable for the hockey coach who needs to take a stick or two to training. The duffle bag is ideal for not so tall people who may normally find the combo stick bag ‘hindering’ walking as it hangs low on the back.

The Mazon Pro Duffle has mesh pockets on top panel for extra organization, wet gear compartment and 2 stick sleeves on side if required. What is impressive is the quality of the bag fabric and solidness of the bag base. It is lighter than it looks. The dual stick holder is all you need for game or training time.

The Voodoo Duffle has two internal mesh pockets, zip-fastened external front pocket with mesh slip pocket inside and external Velcro stick holding harness which tends not to be as secure in holding the sticks as the Mazon Pro Duffle. Again it is ideal for coach or player who likes a backpack but wants more room for storage. The Voodoo Duffle has 20L storage.
